Qur'an 2:183

"O you who believe! Fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed before you, that you may learn self-restraint (Qur'an 2:183). It is a month whose beginning is mercy, whose middle id forgiveness, in end is freedom from hell-fire. May we attain all of these."

Night of Qadr

Narrated 'Aisha: Allah's Apostle (pbuh) said, "Search for the Night of Qadr in the odd nights of the last ten days of Ramadhan." [Sahih Al-Bukhari]

Last Ten Days of Ramadhan

The Prophet's wife Aisha said, "With the start of the last ten days of Ramadhan, the Prophet used to tighten his waist belt and used to pray all the night, and used to keep his family awake for the prayers." [Bukhari]

"Observing imsak before adhan is some kind of bid'ah. No basis in the sunnah of prophet Muhammad s.a.w....the prophet said "eat and drink until you hear adhan". The prophet s.a.w. wanted us to eat till we hear adhan so that we could pray salatu fajr."

Things to Remember during the month of Ramadhan

Abu Huraira related that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
  1. If a person does not avoid false talk and false conduct during Siyam (fasting), then Allah does not care if he abstains from food and drink.
  2. If anyone forgets that he is fasting and eats or drinks he should complete his Siyam (fasting), for it is Allah who has fed him and given him drink.
  3.  Whoever establishes nawafil (voluntary) prayers during the nights of Ramadhan, faithfully out of sincere faith and hoping to attain Allah's rewards, all his past sins will be forgiven.
  4. The time between the five prayers, two consecutive Friday Prayers, and two consecutive Ramadhans are expiation for all that has happened during that period, provided that one has avoided the grave (major) sins.
(Bukhari, Muslim)
